Davide Valentini on Supply Chain Analytics at Barilla

FacebooktwitterlinkedinFacebooktwitterlinkedin

The PERFORMANE Magazine team had access to valuable insights from the Supply Chain Analytics conference which took place during the 3 – 5 June interval in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. During this timeframe, our team managed to interview several experts in the field who were present at the event.

Davide Valentini is one of those experts. He currently holds the position of Process Unit Group Supply Chain Demand Planning Senior Manager at Barilla, the greatest pasta producer and distributor in the world.

Because Barilla handles such an immense Supply Chain, they are faced with great challenges in trying not only to improve their strategy, but also to implement new procedures. A great part of this process is to know how to manage data, and how to extract the right data, the one which will take you towards taking the most efficient and effective decision, as Davide Valentini mentions.

However, in data is where the biggest challenge lies. Davide Valentini highlights how similar data can lead to different outcomes, not all of which would be profitable for the company.

As for the 2015 trends, the interviewed expert pointed out to something that Barilla has recently implemented, namely the optimal shelf availability strategy. This allows them to receive feedback directly from their customers and, thus, take the most appropriate decision for improvement.
